About Us
Our story, our vision, our hands
Why Urithi Wa Mama was established and the women who make it what it is.

Our Story
Urithi Wa Mama is a women-led creative collective based in Nakuru, Kenya. We bring women together through handmade crafts, cultural craftsmanship, skills development and opportunities to earn income through their creativity.
We began with beadwork and handmade jewellery: earrings, bracelets, anklets, chokers, necklaces and key holders.
Our Vision
To build a sustainable collective that celebrates Kenyan cultural heritage, showcases the talents of women artisans, and connects their handmade products to local and international markets.
Our Mission
To create dignified opportunities for women to learn, practise and earn from their craft, while keeping traditional skills alive for the next generation.
Our Values
Heritage, dignity, collaboration, quality craftsmanship, honesty and sustainable livelihoods.
Our Work with Women Artisans
We offer practical craft skills, mentorship and a platform to produce and sell handmade products. Our commitment is to cultural heritage and women's economic empowerment.
What Comes Next
We are working towards expanding into basket and kiondo weaving and other crafts, growing the collective and the opportunities it creates.
See what our hands create
Every piece carries a woman's skill and a piece of our heritage.
